Sipadan Water Village Resort

Sipadan Water Village (or SWV) is a luxury water resort located on Pulau Mabul.

The luxury cottages of Sipadan Water Village are interconnected through flowered walkways.

The structure rest on ironwood stilts. Guests are taken daily to nearby Kapalai and Sipadan dive and snorkeling sites.

The Bajau people who inhabit the waters around Mabul Island are probably an exception to this general rule because they live on water. These seafaring people, belonging to the Bajau Laut tribe, subsist on fishing for their livelihood, and live inside boats or sea homes rising on stilts. Their architecture is uniquely suited for their sea nomadic lifestyle and this is the style adopted in the construction of Sipadan Water Village.

Diving Sipadan, Mabul and Kapalai

Mabul itself has got more than fifteen good dive sites and there are fully qualified diving instructors who can guide beginners as well as pros through these dive sites. The guides are thorough with local marine biology, water temperatures, safety precautions, and all underwater details like the slope and depth of walls.

Sea turtles are a specialty of Mabul Island. Besides that the area is full of marine creatures like squid, cuttlefish, shrimp, crab, harlequin ghost pipefish, mandarin fish and many others. Those who are lucky may also find a goby protecting a blind shrimp. It is one of the more famous symbiotic relationships in the animal kingdom.
